RUNNING COACHING

 

Coaching sessions can vary in duration depending on what elements are included. As an example, a 60 minute session might include a warm-up, technical drills, a 5k interval session and stretches/cool-down to finish. A shorter 30 minute session is more likely to focus on technique and drills, exercises to practice/reinforce correct posture and running style.

 

However, to get the maximum benefit from sessions it's advisable to have an initial assessment to identify inefficiencies in running technique and areas of focus for future training.

 

Focused training plans can vary in length but 8 weeks allows the benefits of new training to be realised and changes in technique to become habitual. A training plan can be created based on information gathered from a Pre-Assessment Form, however this is best combined with the initial assessment to ensure the plan focuses on technique more effectively as well as targetting your running goals.

 

NEW OR RETURNING TO RUNNING

 

While some people will have good ideas of what their running goals are, for others this may be less clear. If this is the case for you they can be discussed during an initial assessment so they can then be factored into your training plan.

 

SUMMARY OF SERVICES AND PACKAGES AVAILABLE

 

30 / 45 / 60 / 90 MINUTE SESSION

Selection of : warm-up / drills / reps / intervals / paced run / stretches / cool-down

PACKAGE 1 (8 week, 5k - half marathon)

  • Initial assessment, identify technique and components of fitness to focus on;
  • 8 week training plan, incorporating findings from initial assessment;
  • Initial session (approx. 1 hour) to ensure understanding of training plan and drills/techniques fully explained and demonstrated.

PACKAGE 2 (16 week, 10k - marathon package)

  • Initial assessment, identify technique and components of fitness to focus on;
  • Initial 8 week training plan, incorporating findings from initial assessment;
  • Initial session (approx. 1 hour) to ensure understanding of training plan;
  • Second assessment, assess success of initial plan and new areas for focus;
  • Second 8 week training plan, incorporating findings from initial assessment;
  • Second session (approx. 1 hour) to ensure understanding of second plan;
  • On-going contact with coach to check training progress and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

RACE PACE MAKER

Available for any distance from 5k to half marathon.

 

STRETCHING VIDEOS

 

Your legs take quite a pounding when you're running so it's important to stretch the 4 main muscle groups, see image below, to prevent soreness.
