MATHS LEVELS

11 PLUS

While children generally start secondary school at the age of 11, the process of applying for schools starts a year before this, sometimes even earlier.  Most parents considering sending their children to grammar or private schools will be investigating tutoring or coaching to help them through the process which is likely to involve a series of testing and interviewing.  For many students, entrance exams will be their first real experience of formal testing.

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS (Level 1 & 2)

Typically, many employers and further education admissions require GCSE maths of at least grade 4 (equivalent to a C) or a functional skills qualification at Level 2.  However, for a variety of reasons, not everyone has this when they leave school at 16.  Learning as an adult, especially after a break of a few years, can be a daunting task, but dedicating the time to plan and study can really help to build confidence to helo maximise the whole experience.

GCSE

GCSEs, particularly in English and maths, remain one of the most recognised and sought after qualifications when looking to further your education or find employment.  While most people first experience GCSEs as children in can be not until they are adults, when they ar maybe more motivated and prepared, that they find success at the level they are capable of.

AS & A LEVEL

We have recently gone through the biggest change to maths teaching and examinations in a generation at this level.  While a lot of the content remains the same the focus is now wholly on the final exams.  Students need to ensure they have prepared fully as their results can determine any future education and potential job prospects.
